Design Experience
I was fortunate enough to work with the Medical Physics & Bioengineering department in St. James's Hospital. My duties involved working on the human factors aspect of projects. This included sketching, 3D modeling and prototyping. I also worked on brand identities for the products themselves.
I carried out task analyses of surgical procedures, developed workflows, interactions flows and navigational flows, and created mock-ups, wireframes and prototypes for medical device training simulators. I was also responsible for process improvement and bringing user centred approach to designs.
I developed wireframes, personas, websites, workshops and infographics as part of the UX team. As part of the digital marketing team, I conceptualised, strategised, scheduled and carried out marketing campaigns covering areas such as design concepts, social media, email marketing, AdWords and search engine optimisation for a wide range of clients.
My work involved developing, designing, translating and managing the production of
promotional and display signage for all European MUJI retailers.
I was lucky enough to work with this well-known creative consultancy that forms a group with Barber & Osgerby and Universal Design Studio. I assisted with the design and production of various projects. I acquired new skills in project management and perfected my CAD and model-making skills. I also learned new design software, research methods and creative skills.
I assisted with the installation and invigilation of Irish Design 2015's inaugural exhibition, 'In the Making', curated by Barber & Osgerby. During this time, I learned about exhibition design, display and mediation and gained experience in teamwork, and in communicating with the general public and design professionals.
Model Works Media
Model maker
September 2014 - October 2014
Dublin
I worked as a freelance model maker with Model Works Media. My duties there ranged from creating CAD drawings to hand making the models. Working closely with other professionals, I was able to perfect my model-making skills.
While interning with this design firm, I collaborated on various projects ranging from setting up the 'Risk' exhibition in the Science Gallery Dublin to making a limited edition chopping board for the Irish band Bell X1. Working alongside Designgoat, I gained experience in Illustrator, Photoshop and woodworking, as well as in project management and client presentation.
During my time with Aboud Creative, I gained experience in graphic design. I also shadowed Art Director Alan Aboud and assisted him on a Paul Smith photo-shoot. I learned about photography, scene set up, art direction and editing, and acquired the basics of Photoshop and Illustrator.
